-after, afterwards o later?-

-after, afterwards o later?-
Nota d'uso
Quando dopo è usato come preposizione, il suo equivalente è “after”: Dopo cena andremo fuori, after dinner we'll go out. Se invece dopo è usato come avverbio, con il significato di “in seguito”, si può tradurre con “after that” o “afterwards”: Martedì mattina sono andato dal dentista. Dopo ho pranzato con Lucia, on Tuesday morning I went to the dentist. After that I had lunch with Lucia (non After I had lunch with Lucia). Quando dopo significa “più tardi”, corrisponde spesso a “later” o “later on”: Ti chiamo dopo, I'll call you later; Ne possiamo parlare dopo, we can talk about it later on (o aftewards).
